Working girl...

It seems so alien to me to writing a blog about starting a new job and what to wear for work and yet here I am, having just got in from work sitting at my laptop writing exactly that. Its funny how life works out, the universe does indeed work in mysterious ways.

I have happily been a housewife for the last 20 odd years, the last time I went to a proper job was was roughly the middle of September 1996. (although I did help out at our local village school breakfast club years back but Sam getting poorly put paid to that.)

So it has come as a bit of a surprise, actually that's a colossal understatement, it's a huge shock to be offered a job, especially as I didn't apply for it and in all honesty it didn't exist as such.

Let me explain, in February Chris (hubby) and I entered a home interiors shop in Colchester, a town not far from where we live. Chris has never really been into our interior design and has always left it to me,  which has been fine, but from the moment we stepped inside the store he was hooked and so was I. We spent the following months renovating and updating our home, kitting it out with the most gorgeous furniture, paints and ornaments. I'm so pleased with the results I often post my home interior photos on my social media for no other reason that I'm so proud of my home.

We became very friendly with the owners of the Colchester store (not difficult, they are wonderful people who we love spending time with. My cheeks literally ache from laughing after a night out with them, I love that).  Here's where the universe working in mysterious ways comes in, Di and Jasp have read and enjoyed my blogs and seen my home interior posts. They put two and two together and have asked me to set up and run their social media presence. It's just the most perfect job for me as I feel very passionate about the store, its staff, all of the products, and of course I enjoy using social media.

Could there be a greater compliment in this world than being offered a job that you didn't apply for, I'm so excited, happy and seriously blown away. Just hope I do them proud.

Weirdly I have a lot of what could be classed as work clothes, quite odd for someone that hasn't worked in so long and even when I did I didn't wear office wear. I simply haven't needed work attire till this point, but I'm so excited to finally get to wear it, some of it has never been worn.

It really is great news for me, on so many levels. One of the things I find I'm missing from my blogs is workwear. Now I get to find great outfits that work well for a day at the office and get to do something I enjoy. I need clothes that are going to be functional and look good, if you're wearing something all day you need to feel confident that it's not going to cause leaks.
